Having been won by some truly inspirational individuals over the years, the award celebrates the best qualities of cleaning and the dedicated staff who embody them. This could be someone goes the extra mile and achieves great things each and every day. Maybe they have risen to the challenge during troubling circumstances? Are they a charity champion? A helpful hero? A go-getter? Or maybe they have suffered loss and battled on through?
LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT
This award is to honour someone who has spent their life's work ensuring infections in their hospitals are prevented, and who has demonstrated commitment, dedication, passion and care through their career. They encompass everything that a healthcare cleaner needs to be and more. This award recognises a staff member who is more than just a cleaner. It is recognition of a lifetime commitment - a celebration of a longstanding member of the team and a role model for all.
CLEANING TEAM OF THE YEAR
This award is a celebration of healthcare cleaning/domestics teams that have consistently made a positive impact on their Trust. Recognising those who have excelled at maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for patients, healthcare professionals, and visitors, this award is for those who go above and beyond and show the spirit that embodies that of true teamwork - everyone puts their all in, together.
LEADERSHIP OF THE YEAR
This award is to recognise an individual who goes the extra mile for a patient/visitor or enhances the patient journey. Whether it’s making a patient smile, easing their anxiety, or improving the efficiency of patient flow, this individual stands out for their extraordinary efforts, going above and beyond their expected duties. Their acts of kindness and dedication, whether through small gestures or unique talents, significantly enhance the patient experience and contribute to a positive hospital environment.
NEWCOMER OF THE YEAR
This award celebrates a cleaner who truly ‘hit the ground running’. From their first day on the hospital floor, they have brought a refreshing energy and an exceptional work ethic. The award aims to shine a light on someone who has taken to the role of cleaner and can be seen as a benchmark for success to encourage others to follow suit - helping to show healthcare cleaning as a possible, and positive, career option.
AUDITOR OF THE YEAR
This award recognises an individual who puts their all into their work, is well respected by others for their challenging role, and shows respect to their fellow colleagues in the Domestics teams. This individual goes above and beyond to ensure their hospital/Trust is adhering to the National Standards of Healthcare Cleanliness, adopting them early on to guarantee their hospital is at the forefront of the latest requirements in safety.
INTERNATIONAL DOMESTIC OF THE YEAR
This award celebrates the invaluable contributions of healthcare domestic or housekeeping staff worldwide. While their roles may vary, their unwavering commitment to ensuring that patients can heal and medical staff can operate in a clean and supportive environment is universal. This award honours their dedication, compassion, and tireless commitment, highlighting their vital role in maintaining the smooth operation of the global healthcare community.

Nomination Examples
The judges are looking for an individual or team within the NHS involved in portering who have gone above and beyond and are deserving of special recognition.
Perhaps this individual or team has done something such as:
